Ayşe Hatun, (ca. 1453, Elbistan - 1504, Trabzon), was the fourth spouse of Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II and the stepmother of Selim I.
A’ishā (Ayşe) Khānûm was born in 1453 as the daughter of ’Ala ud-Daula Bozkurd Bey (Alaüddevle Bozkurt Bey), the eleventh ruler of the Dulkadirids centered around Elbistan in Kahramanmaraş. She was married Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II in 1469 at Amasya, and had died in 1504 long before Selim I’s accession to the Ottoman throne.
Although it's been asserted by some researchers that Ayşe Hatun I[1][2] might be the biological mother of Yavuz Sultan Selim, the most recent investigations revealed that the actual biological mother of Selim I is Gülbahar Sultan[3], who had died two years before her son’s accession to the Ottoman throne, and never acquired the title of Vâlidā Khātûn.
